Foods That Are Dangerous for Our Pets

Our beloved four-legged friends rely on us for their care and protection. Therefore, it is important to know that some foods that are delightful to us can be toxic or dangerous for them.

1. Alcohol

Even in small amounts, alcohol can cause serious problems in pets  such as:

  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Respiratory issues
  • In severe cases, coma

2. Chocolate

Chocolate can be toxic even in small dosages, if your dog has eaten chocolate please contact your vet immediately

3. Bones

Bones, especially cooked ones, can splinter and cause:

  • Injuries to the digestive system
  • Blockages or intestinal perforations

4. Gum and Sweeteners

Many gums contain xylitol, a sweetener that can cause:

  • Hypoglycemia
  • Liver damage

5. Raisins and Grapes

Even small amounts can lead to:

Kidney failure
Vomiting and lethargy

6. Garlic and Onion Sauces

Garlic and onions are toxic to pets. Symptoms may vary from a simple gastro-enteritis to the destruction of the animals red blood cells

How to Protect Our Pets

  • Keep dangerous foods out of reach of your pets.
  • Inform all family members about hazardous foods.
  • In case of consumption, contact your veterinarian immediately.
